From Britzius FileII - Eldon lived in Fairbault, MN. She "married (1) Dan Hagan, had children Lillian and Clifford. Mr. Hagan had a livery Stable, but was a beer drunk. One time things got so bad Eldon tied him to the bed and beat him with a stick. Eldon married (2) _____ Bowman, in Minneapolis, but he was 'shiftless.' She married (3) _____ Kenneberg. She ran away from home when about 17 or 18, moved to St Peter, MN. Leona (Lydia) went with her. The girls found life in the country with a strictly religious father too oppressive. They always had to live poorly, wearing old clothes given by parishioners, and to care for the 'smelly babies' of the people attending services or visiting the minister. Leona said Eldon had a 'come hither look' that attracted men, even though she said she wasn't trying to flirt. Leona said she left home with Eldon to 'keep Eldon out of trouble.'
The SSdeath index lists Ella Britzius B. 8 Feb 1880 and death Jan 1967 in Mandan ND. I believe this may be our Ella but the birth in 1880 can't be right.

At father's death Maggie is 16 and living in Canby. She inherits $260.59.
1900 census - She is living with Half-sister Mary in Portland and working as a nurse.
Per 1910 Census - Margaret is living at her sister Mary's Boarding House in Portland. She has not married. She lists her occupation as "nurse - private family." She also lists "Nurse" as well as "sister" in the "Relation to head" column.
She is also listed as living with her mother at 540 Clay St., Portland, ORE.
1920 Census - shows S. as middle initial. Margaret is working as an embalmer in an undertaking parlor. She is living with her sister Della.
1930 Census - living on 12th Ave. Still lists her occupation as embalmer for an undertaking firm.
SS# 532-01-4361
from the Adam Zimmerman story - " Margaret S. was working as a private duty nurse and living in Aunt Mary's rooming house in 1910. She is listed a second time in the 1910 census living with her mother at 540 Clay St. in Portland, Oregon. The 1920 census shows her living in Seattle with her sister and working as an embalmer in a funeral parlor. Do you know what that is? It's a person that gets dead bodies ready to be buried. The 1930 census shows her still living in Seattle and working as an embalmer, but by then she has her own home and has a roomer. She apparently never married and lived in Seattle until she died in 1964."
