Walter died at Hellinger Mine where he had worked 14 years as a result of a fire in the mine. His body was shipped back to Folly Lake for burial.
Per descendant Robert Stevens: He was killed in Timmins Ontario at the Hollander Mine. He was the under ground mine Captain, a fire broke out under ground
and he went in after his men and did not make it back to the surface. He was married twice. Cassie was the mother of Charles Duncan Stevens.
