Per 1910 Census - gives initial B. Gives her age as 4 - quite a ways from the 8 she would be if born in 1901 as per SS Death register. Per niece, Darlene Linsmeyer, 18 Mar 2005, birthdate should be 1906.
In 1976 Erma's address was Box 45, Rt 2, Butternut, WI 54514.
She was the custodian of Jacob DeMouth's civil war letters to his wife Cordelia.
In 1983 Heather and I (DZS) visited her in her home on the bank of the Flambeau River. It was a home she had lived in for 60 years. Her husband had died and she lived there all alone. She still mowed the huge lawn herself. She served us a lovely lunch and we sat in her living room and she told us everything she could remember about the DeMouths. Everything in the living room, draperies, upholstery, I think even the carpet, was bright red or pink. Also during this visit we went to the Park Falls bank where she took ggrandpa DeMouth's letters from a safe deposit box and made copies of them for me.

It is uncertain as to whether Ruth was married previous to her marriage to Thomas Condon. The facts that three of her sons had Lafferty as their middle name, and that her first son continued to use the surname Stewart after her marriage to Thomas Condon, suggest that Lafferty was her maiden name and that surname of Stewart came from a previous marriage.
Ruth was Married to Bryan Lafferty Stewart Son of William & Percilla Stewart Percilla's Maiden Name was Lafferty I beleive she named her youngest son Bryan Lafferty Stewart to carry the name on her other two sons were Named William & Alexander Stewart also I beleive that Ruth leonard was possibly a cousin to the Stewarts or a close freind of percilla's and carried the name on Bryan & Ruth had one son John Fitz Stewart before Bryan Died after she Married Thomas Condon in New Brunswick they Had three sons she Named them all Lafferty Condon Ruth and Thomas are both buried in Tapleytown Cemetary.I am looking for William Stewart Parents and Grand parents. That's great news - a number of us have been looking for the connection you mentioned for a number of years. As info like this turns up, that always leads to more questions! For instance: 1. What documentation do you have that Bryan Lafferty Stewart was Ruth's first husband? When and where were they married? 2. What was Ruth's maiden name? Leonard? (I couldn't tell for sure from your posting.) When and where was she born and who were her parents? 3. When and where did Bryan Lafferty Stewart die? I was under the impression that he had returned to New Jersey, while his brother William remained in New Brunswick. (if so, why did Ruth stay in New Brunswick?)Just an observation: Ruth must have been a pretty strong woman,.. naming her second husband's children after her first husband. Wonder how Thomas handled that!Sorry I can't come up with William Stewart Sr.'s parents... had searched thru the New Jersey archives with no success. Thanks, Wayne Olsen

Thomas Condon served in Stewarts Dragoons under Lord Corwallis Capt William Stewart Commanded them Alexander his brother was second in command Bryan Lafferty Stewart was also in this troop they were brothers (look under stewart troops muster role) It was noted by family members that Ruth was a widow who Thomas married and he served with her husband. William & Alexander came to Canada as Loyalist so it was always believed that Bryan was her husband because of the Lafferty connection and he never came to Canada.I have no marrage documentation of this marrage yet.Look up (I have a story to tell)google it if you cant find it I will forward it to you it is believed Ruth was a leonard I dont know much about her yet. This area is a bit grey I was to beleive Ruth was a widow before she came to Canada and Bryan possible died or was killed in the States You beleive Alexander was here husband my info tells me William & Alexander came to Canada and Stayed I would like to Know for sure if Bryan was her Husband I cant Prove it.You ask how Thomas Handled the naming of the Children good question I beleive he was close to Her husband (Bryan Lafferty Stewart) and didnt have a problem with.I think Thomas was a very easy going Man.I would like to know if my info is correct and would welcome corrections if possible.
