Silkey, Mabel (Marriage - 1925)
A pretty home wedding took place at the home of Mr and Mrs. Henry Koplitz of Withee when their niece, Miss Mabel Silkey of Christie was united in marriage to Mr. Will Lawrence, also of Christie. At five o’clock, while the song “A Perfect Day” was being played on the piano by Lester Koplitz. The bridal couple and their attendants, Mr and Mrs. H. Koplitz, marched through the hall to a bower of powder blue crepe paper flowers in the parlor where the ceremony was performed by Rev. Grandy of Withee.
The bride was daintily attired in a powder blue silk crepe de chine and lace gown, and carried a bridal bouquet of Ophelia roses and Easter lilies, while the groom wore a dark blue serge suit.
Miss Silkey, after finishing the country school, spent most of her time at home, where she became skilled in the art of home making. Mr. Lawrence has worked at the Wiejohn farm at Christie for the past few years and has won many friends by his good nature and geniality. After a brief wedding trip through different parts of the state, the young couple will be at home to their many friends at the Weijohn farm at Christie.
Best wishes and congratulations attend them.
