Per GWKreutz email 31 Oct 2008: Barbara became head of the graduate school at BrynMar in the 70's. She was the daughter of Irene Castle of the famous dance team of
Irene & Vernon Castle. She held a PhD in Medievel History from UW.
Kreutz, Barbara McLaughlin BRYN MAWR, PA. - Barbara McLaughlin Kreutz died in Bryn Mawr, Pa., of cancer on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003. She was a dean of the graduate school at Bryn Mawr College from 1980 to 1984 and an assistant vice chancellor at the University of Wisconsin from 1975 to 1979. A professor of medieval history, she wrote a number of articles on the Middle Ages and the book, "Before the Normans." She also co-authored "Introducing America," a travel guide to the United States. She was an ardent advocate of civic responsibility and political action. A remarkable woman of boundless curiosity and generosity of spirit, she will be missed by friends and colleagues around the world. She is survived by her loving family: her husband of 60 years, Irving Kreutz; children, Nicky, Gregg, Charlotte and Libby; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; brother, William McLaughlin; and niece, Castle McLaughlin.
