Thomas Pierce, the emigrant ancestor of this branch of the Pierce family, came from England to this country in 1633-4, with his wife Elizabeth Pierce, and settled in Charlestown, Mass. He was b. in England in 1583-4; d. Oct. 7, 1666. ...He (was admitted to the church) Feb 21, 1634-5. He was freeman May 6, 1635. Sept. 7,1642, he was one of the twenty-one commissioners appointed by the Great and General Court, "to see that Saltpetre heaps were made by all the farmers of the colony."
