AC
Abbreviation for Armor Class (see below)

Active Character
The highlighted character in adventure or combat mode. The character that will have actions performed on it and interacted with by events that do not target the whole party.

Armor Class
The measure of a character's defense, ranging from 10 to -10, the lower the number the better protected the character.

Backdrops
Backdrops are used in dungeon modules as the floor and "ceiling" against the wall sets in the 3-D view.

Experience Points
These points measure a character's development and advancement in the game.

Hit Points
These points are a measure of a character's health. The more Hit Points a character has the more damge it can take before dying.

HP
Abbreviation for Hit Points (see above)

Monster
This is a generic term given to characters controlled by the computer/designer that are not of the races or classes as are available for Player Characters (see PC below).

NPC
Non Player Character – usually not under the player's control.

PC
Player Character – the characters that the player has direct control over.

THAC0
To Hit Armor Class 0, ranges from 20 to 1 with lower numbers being better than higher. This is how likely a character is to hit another character.

Walls
Walls are the graphics used to separate one cell of the map from another and appear to look as a buildings walls do in the real world.

XP
Abbreviation for Experience Points (see above).
